YEMEN: A French employee of Total injured in attack

A French security official in the oil group Total in Yemen, was wounded and a Yemeni soldier killed in an attack Tuesday on the automatic weapon against their vehicle in south-east, officials said medical sources and oil.
The attack took place in Sayoun city of Hadramout, while the total charge of his way to the airport to return to Sanaa after a mission to the region, told ; AFP a local source of the oil ministry.
A second soldier, who was in the car, was injured and the victims were taken in a public hospital in Sayoun, told AFP the source Medical.
"The French was hit by three bullets in the thigh. His condition is stable and his life is in danger, "said the medical source. The identity of the French was not specified.
The attackers, traveling in two vehicles fired machine guns toward the car before taking flight, according to ministry source.
Acts of violence are common in southern and south-eastern Yemen, where supporters of Al Qaeda are active in favor of a weakening of central power in Sanaa in 2011 in the wake of a protest movement that led to the departure of President Ali Abdullah Saleh challenged.
Present in Yemen since 1987, including Total's shares amounting to 39.62% of the gas liquefaction plant Yemen LNG, an investment of 4.5 billion dollars, the largest ever made in Yemen.
Total is operator of hydrocarbon deposit the block 10 (Masila Basin, East Shabwa, 28.57%) and partner on Block 5 (Marib Basin, Jannah permit, 15%) .
Yemen is a small oil producer, with a daily production of 300,000 barrels, in particular for export.
